Get familiar with Puppy Culture. You will learn about breeding, whelping, general training, potty training, age-appropriate socialization, enrichment, puppy biting, resource guarding, body handling, benefits of positive reinforcement, and how to have a puppy party, setting up an unsupervised puppy playpen, and more. We were already doing almost everything they teach but it’s a great way to have it all organized and at your fingertips. We use and recommend the Puppy Culture Breeders Bundle.

We recommend a whelping area similar to ours.

A place to sleep right next to mom and puppies.

A couch to hang out during the day,

A heat lamp over puppies with plenty of room to move out of the heat,

A shower curtain draped well away from the heat lamp to reduce drafts (even from people moving around the room),

A cot for mom to retreat to when she wants to be near puppies, but needs a break.
